March 18, 2022

(Translated from Italian) This unscientific theory has also spread in Italy, causing damage to the system of family courts and family homes; the children are losing out now. The UN organized a conference focused on combating parental alienation and its serious effects on the protection of children and respect for gender equality. Meanwhile, President Biden signed the Kayden Act Wednesday, aimed … [Read more...]

Florida SB 1796 Would Solidify a Dangerous Precedent for Our Most Vulnerable Children in Family Court

March 15, 2022

Florida’s family court system already frequently defaults to equal parental time-sharing, even in cases where one parent is a convicted abuser, even without SB 1796. Family court judges are given enormous leeway in their rulings and, should SB 1796 pass, this would simply strengthen their conviction that it is in the ‘best interest’ of the child to have unsupervised time with both parents, … [Read more...]

Family Courts Need Domestic Violence Experts: 20 Common Mistakes in Evaluations Judges Miss

March 11, 2022

Essay by Barry Goldstein & Veronica York The original sin family courts made in responding to domestic violence cases was turning to mental health professionals as if they were the experts.  It is not that psychologists have nothing to contribute, but they do not have the specialized knowledge of domestic violence, child sexual abuse and other critical issues.  The original mistake … [Read more...]

CJE’s Mission

CJE is a nonprofit organization based in San Rafael, California. Our mission is to protect child abuse and domestic violence survivors in the U.S. family court system and to foster accountability throughout the judicial branch.

For nearly two decades, the Center has been a voice for vulnerable children and a catalyst for child safety as we work tirelessly to expose the systemic failures in U.S. family courts that are harming countless children. We accomplish this by educating the media, lawmakers, and the public about the need for significant reforms while we spearhead legislation focused on keeping children safe and alive through their parent’s divorce or separation.
