June 3, 2021

Alison Kessler had been fighting in the courts to get her 4-year-old son, Greyson Kessler, out of his father’s custody after he sent her pages and pages of abusive, threatening messages, but to no avail in court.  On the day she filed an emergency order (Judge Michael Kaplan denied the motion), officers found Greyson shot to death along with his father. The Price of Care: Investigating Corruption in California Conservatorships (ABC10 5-Part Series)

May 28, 2021

And then, the feeding frenzy begins. California courts prey on the elderly and children, our most vulnerable community members. Kudos to ABC10 journalist Andie Judson for this year-long investigation into … [Read more...]

CJE’s Mission

CJE is a nonprofit organization based in San Rafael, California. Our mission is to protect child abuse and domestic violence survivors in the U.S. family court system and to foster accountability throughout the judicial branch.

For nearly two decades, the Center has been a voice for vulnerable children and a catalyst for child safety as we work tirelessly to expose the systemic failures in U.S. family courts that are harming countless children. We accomplish this by educating the media, lawmakers, and the public about the need for significant reforms while we spearhead legislation focused on keeping children safe and alive through their parent’s divorce or separation.
