Wife of Outspoken Dead Judge Weighs in on Depressing Saga of Woody Allen, and Mia and Dylan Farrow

March 6, 2014

March 6, 2014 - As an attorney with over three decades of experience advocating for women and children whose lives have been blighted, some by domestic violence and some by childhood sexual abuse, and as the widow of Elliott Wilk, the judge in the Allen v. Farrow custody case, my interest in Dylan Farrow’s recent disclosures of sexual abuse by Woody Allen is both professional and … [Read more...]

PA: Testimonials flood in on Custody4Cash scandal

March 5, 2014

This is the second in a series of reports by the Independent Gazette chronicling the judicial systems and child custody practices of Lackawanna, Luzerne, and surrounding counties in Pennsylvania. The Gazette, through exclusive interviews, begins to paint a picture of a legal — not justice — system run amok, fueled by greed, kept intact through intimidation, and veiled in secrecy. A complex web has … [Read more...]

Connecticut Court failure: The deadly rebranding of Joshua Komisarjevsky

February 25, 2014

For most of Joshua Komisarjevsky’s life, he had been a career criminal. Yet in May of 2007, the newly paroled Komisarjevsky strolled into New Britain Family Court wearing a GPS monitoring bracelet and obtained sole custody of his 5-year old child with the help of Connecticut’s Department of Corrections. Two months later, Komisarjevsky was arrested for his part in brutal triple slayings of … [Read more...]

CA: Valori George and Sylvia Shih: Does the system work?

February 24, 2014

Following on the excellent letter from Chris Fitz on Feb. 10 ("The system did not work"), I would like to offer another powerful example of the system not working: the case of Eva Ruiz Gomez. For 2½ years, the Monterey County District Attorney's office relentlessly pursued a criminal case against Gomez, charging her with felony kidnapping. From the beginning, Judge Mark Hood — and Judge … [Read more...]

CJE’s Mission

CJE is a nonprofit organization based in San Rafael, California. Our mission is to protect child abuse and domestic violence survivors in the U.S. family court system and to foster accountability throughout the judicial branch.

For nearly two decades, the Center has been a voice for vulnerable children and a catalyst for child safety as we work tirelessly to expose the systemic failures in U.S. family courts that are harming countless children. We accomplish this by educating the media, lawmakers, and the public about the need for significant reforms while we spearhead legislation focused on keeping children safe and alive through their parent’s divorce or separation.
