Marin Judicial Forum: A community dialogue

Part of CJE’s Judicial Forum Series

The Marin Judicial Forum took place on September 27th, 2006 7:00pm-9:00pm at the Student Services Building , College of Marin , Kentfield, CA

The goal of the Marin Judicial Forum was to educate the Marin community about their Courts and encourage an ongoing dialogue between the Marin County Superior Court, Marin-based legal organizations and Marin residents.

The Center for Judicial Excellence and Forum co-sponsors invited all members of the Marin community to this inclusive forum to discuss the most pressing issues, learn from one another and seek new ways to work together to strengthen our judicial system in Marin County.

The Marin Judicial Forum was comprised of a brief introductory presentation by the Center for Judicial Excellence, 5-minute introductory statements by the Forum panelists and a structured Question & Answer session moderated by broadcast journalist Peter B. Collins. The Question & Answer session invited the audience to submit written questions to the moderator, who then posed select questions to the members of the panel.

Forum panelists included:

  • Victoria Henley – Director & Chief Counsel, CA Commission on Judicial Performance
  • Judge Kevin Murphy – Alameda County Superior Court
  • Carl Shapiro – Marin-based Attorney
  • Cesar Lagleva, Chair – Marin Human Rights Commissioner
  • Claudia Brisson – Marin-based Attorney
  • Barbara Kauffman – Marin-based Attorney
