The Center for Judicial Excellence is thrilled to announce that California State Senator Bob Wieckowski (D-Fremont) has introduced new family law legislation to help bring California custody evaluators into compliance with state laws and rules of court, particularly as they relate to domestic violence and child sexual abuse provisions that are routinely overlooked in evaluation reports up and down the state of California.
Senate Bill 594 mandates that custody evaluators fill out a form that assists them in following all of the existing state statutes and rules of court that govern their work. Passage of this legislation would go a long way toward standardizing custody evaluations reports and protecting our state’s most vulnerable children whose divorcing parents are challenged by domestic violence and child sexual abuse.
Please take a moment to email Senator Wieckowski to thank him for agreeing to sponsor this important legislation. CJE and our partner, the California Protective Parents Association, among others, will be working to help Senator Wieckowski pass this important implementation bill. We are going to need everyone’s help to get this bill passed in the coming months, so please be sure to sign up for CJE’s E-Newsletter at the bottom right-hand corner of this page or our contact us page to make sure that you receive the most up-to-the-date news about our legislative work.
