Jean Taylor Memorial Fund

Jean Taylor, Founding Board President

The Jean Taylor Memorial Fund is a tribute to the remarkable life and contributions of our beloved Jean. For the 10 pivotal years she was with CJE, our lives were transformed because of her unmatched enthusiasm, fierce tenacity, fearlessness, and hard work. This fund honors her legacy of kindness, compassion, and dedication to making a difference in the lives of others. Established to support causes that were close to her heart, the fund provides an opportunity for anyone who wishes to contribute to protect child abuse and domestic violence survivors in the U.S. family court system and to foster accountability throughout the judicial branch.

Our visionary leader Jean Taylor passed away in January 2024 after a valiant seven-year struggle to recover from a major stroke. Jean’s leadership was pivotal during the organization’s formative first decade, from 2006 through 2016. Jean’s fierce dedication to child safety, to social justice, and to community service was infectious, and she received numerous awards for her tremendous impact, including Marin’s Martin Luther King Jr. Humanitarian of the Year Award and the Heart of Marin’s Volunteer of the Year award. She was also inducted into the Marin Women’s Hall of Fame. Jean was forced to retire from the Board in early 2017 after her unexpected stroke, but her founding spirit and tremendous legacy live on in the work we do each and every day. CJE would not be where we are today without Jean’s steadfast commitment to child safety and family court reform.

Your generous donation to the Jean Taylor Memorial Fund will help to continue Jean’s legacy by addressing and exposing the family court crisis that harms countless innocent children. Your support ensures that her spirit lives on and that the fight for child safety remains a priority for all of us.

CJE’s Mission

CJE is a nonprofit organization based in San Rafael, California. Our mission is to protect child abuse and domestic violence survivors in the U.S. family court system and to foster accountability throughout the judicial branch.

For nearly two decades, the Center has been a voice for vulnerable children and a catalyst for child safety as we work tirelessly to expose the systemic failures in U.S. family courts that are harming countless children. We accomplish this by educating the media, lawmakers, and the public about the need for significant reforms while we spearhead legislation focused on keeping children safe and alive through their parent’s divorce or separation.
